Rainforest animals game
My kindergartener's class was using the Magic Treehouse book series as part of their Tools of the Mind curriculum. While they were reading "Afternoon on the Amazon" and studying the rain forest, I came across this fun game suggested for children by the Prince of Wales' Rainforests Project (how posh!). I used the pages offered there to put together all the things you need to play the game in a classroom.
Game instructions are included in the PDF doc. The way we went about this in class was to post the large pages and take some time talking about each animal first. I was shocked by how much they knew before I got it there-- props to our awesome teachers-- they all had a chant, "Emergent, Canopy, Understory, Forest Floor!"
After that discussion, start the game. The adult plays Mr. Crocodile. Kindergarteners appreciate sound effects and acting, even if it's bad.

Items needed for a class project: all pages from my PDF document, print enough copies of page 2 so that you have enough cards for the kids playing (class size / 9). If you want to get fancy, bring some blue fabric to put down as the river.
